Wheelchair and Mobility Aid Users
Our venue is sadly not fully accessible for all wheelchair users, due to its raised location on Chester’s Medieval Rows, and does not have level street access. We have compiled some information we hope you find useful in deciding whether to come.
- The front door is accessed via five steps from Bridge Street, and six steps with a central handrail from Pepper Street.
- There are three steps with a handrail to an alterative door the rear of the venue.
- Once inside, the museum is all on one-level and fully wheelchair accessible.
- We do not have any storage space available for wheelchairs.
Accessible toilet
There is one standard accessible toilet, located at the back of the attraction. The toilet has support rails, an emergency pull chord, and an accessible height sink with lever taps.
Sensory Information
There are some audio/visual elements in Sick to Death. In these locations we have provided either printed audio transcripts and/or subtitles. The first room you enter after the front desk includes flashing lights as part of the introduction, however you may pass through this room without viewing it.
There are areas with dim lighting, light and sound effects, and while opportunities to smell scents are optional through the use of smell-pots, these scents can permeate the air in certain areas.
Story Guide

Support dogs
All support dogs are welcome at Sick to Death. Drinking water for dogs can be provided on request.
Seating
A number of seats are available throughout the attraction, if you wish to sit and rest. If there is not a seat in a location where you would prefer to rest, our staff will be happy to provide one for you.
Babies
For those visiting with babies, buggies can be pushed around the attraction. We do not have storage for buggies. A baby change unit is located in the accessible toilet located towards the back of the attraction. Breast-feeding is welcomed in our venue.
